This moment feels like running through sprinklers right at dusk and blades of grass are sticking to your feet and the all the fireflies are flashing, silently asking each other to come just a little bit closer, and the air is so heavy with moisture that you can feel the spark between each molecule and it’s so hot that when you run through the spray of water it feels like coming out the other end of a portal.
Eclipses aren’t the time to try to control things. We’re funneling through a weird spell and ”the universe” is already doing the work for us. It’s manifesting for us. If something is meant to happen for you during an eclipse, it will. You don’t need to manifest it. Allow yourself to be suspended in midair. You are what the universe has been manifesting.
This eclipse season more than ever, particularly with Mercury and Saturn traveling retrograde and Mercury one degree from the eclipsed sun, we’re truly being sucked (or shocked) out of schedules and lists and calendars and into the whirlpool of the cosmos. Just feel where the current takes you, keep your eyes and ears open to incoming information, and reevaluate your outgoing message.
New ideas might be percolating. You might be feeling a push to go forward – let that air current lift you up rather than hitting the ground running. Let us all allow it to suspend us in midair.
Something might be changing in the area of your chart that Gemini falls in.
Something might be coming up out of nowhere.
Strange events. Synchronicity. Astral storks diving out of the sky with a message in a language you were destined to learn. A moment of clarity in a garbled sea of static.
Something leaps out like the tongue of a snake or the tongue of a child told to sit down. Sometimes the moment of eclipse is daring, an Icarian flight into the sun but maybe the sun is no more. Sometimes something is truly inaugurated, but only ever by accident. Sometimes something emerges from the steaming abyss but it’s too soon. Your birthday cake is still only half-baked. It’s all cold and gooey inside and the hall drips with half-dead balloons. What time is it? Are you still asleep?
A lot of people say eclipses are fated times, and around solar eclipses like this one I’ve personally experienced a number of strange occurrences that do feel weirdly fated. Once upon a time there was a solar eclipse on the north node (like this one), in my 5th house, the house of romance, and two days later I serendipitously started talking to someone I magically ended up being with for over a decade… for example.
During another north node solar eclipse in my 10th house, the house of career and public image, my band released our first EP. Had I been paying attention to eclipses back then, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to release it then, and it was, in fact, only half baked. It was rushed, we weren’t prepared, and we hadn’t done the inner work we needed to do to sail smoothly into the life that felt so very on the brink of crystallization. But that experience, that spectacular failure, was the siren of a ghostly ambulance alerting me to the much deeper issue at hand. I did learn. And now I’m here writing this and sharing it publicly because of what I learned about myself through that experience.
I could go on.
We don’t have to control an eclipse. Nor is it time to pout because your manifestations have been canceled. This is paid time off. your job has been taken care of. All positions have been filled and you’re still getting checks. Run through the sprinklers and have a drink on the deck by the light of the citronella torches. And if you want a hint, look into the Gemini corner of your chart. What might dart in or out? What egoic temptation is rearing its head? Are you getting ahead of yourself? What clarity might be beginning to come about?
