Why Are Virgos So Hot?
Virgo hotness, at a glance
Virgos are hot because they understand that the mind moves and inspires the body.
Virgo is a mutable sign and mutable signs are about movement – they occur at the end of a season and represent the transition from one season to the next. Virgo is an earth sign, so it is about physical (earth) movement and change (mutable). But Virgo is also ruled by Mercury, so they equally recognize the movement of the mind (Mercury) too – they know that the mind, thought, and communication turn on and electrify the body, and move the body into action, and they know that people change their minds. Virgo is the link between mind and body.
The touch of a Virgo isn’t effortlessly graceful, but rather honed and exact. It’s the touch of a potter, a woodworker, or one who makes bread from scratch; Virgos may not often consider themselves artists (despite the fact that sometimes they… literally… are), but they are certainly artisans. Virgos are surprisingly sexually open-minded, kinky, and passionate about good sex. And again, ruled by Mercury, they are intellectually stimulating (and want the same from others), they are bold and direct, they can flirt with the best of ‘em and fuck your mind in the best way, and in both the mundane and erotic senses, they are thrilled by both the dark and light in their lovers.
Virgo Attraction, Dating + Desire
Virgos are good with words. Some of them express that quality best in writing and others are able to share it freely in all of their interactions, but with the vast majority of Virgos, there is something very uniquely poignant about them. They select the words as if from a well-organized filing cabinet in the mind; they are good, clear communicators (whether they themselves recognize it or not); and they are so, so hot in that clarity, honesty, and directness. They are very self-aware (sometimes to the point of self-consciousness) and that level of self-awareness is very attractive.
When you ask a Virgo a personal question, you get a clear, direct, and often well-articulated answer, and that kind of rawness is extremely attractive. (Scorpio works really well with Virgo for this reason and several others.) This is in part because Virgos already know themselves very well and they’re not afraid to allow others to know them. They are ruled by Mercury, after all, and Mercury acts as a cosmic chauffeur. Mythologically, Mercury/Hermes is the god that escorts the souls of the dead to the underworld and still returns to the world of the living unscathed. Mercurial Virgo can traverse the underworld and the visible world, the conscious and unconscious, the light and the dark, the mind and the body; Virgos exist in both and while they appreciate their lovers’ most well-polished and refined elements, they are also not afraid of your darkness, your hidden parts, or your dirtiness. They delight in both, and it’s hot to be seen and appreciated in that kind of dualistic way. To Virgo, your body appears representative of your mind, because to them, there is little to no separation between the two.
That all being said… Virgos really are selective, to say the least. Picky as fuck, you might say.
They have very specific wants and standards that are very personal to them, and they are easily turned off, even by things that many others wouldn’t think twice about. So when a Virgo wants you, they see something special (and likely very specific and subtle) in you. Sometimes that something is even a “flaw” that they want to repair with the hands of their own inner tailor. When a Virgo wants someone, they really, really want them, and they make themselves very available to the people they desire. They are generally decisive, clear, and rarely try to keep lovers or dates guessing. They will sometimes pursue lovers by waiting for the exact right opportunity, inching toward them week by week or even year by year, endlessly tailoring their approach to fit what the object of their desire desires, in hopes that they will change their mind. As Max Collins of Eve 6 (a Virgo sun, Mercury (rx) and north node) put it, “I alone am the one you don’t know you need.” Virgos have the patience of earth and the strategizing ability of Mercury. If the person that they love or desire doesn’t feel the same way, they will often wait to see if they will change (mutable) their mind (Mercury). They are focused in a way that even echoes Scorpio. With Virgo, if you meet their criteria, their devotion becomes almost religious. Their Virgoan devotion feels like an ivy that spreads across the side of a building. It’s worth noting that this can be taken too far; as reasonable as Virgo are, when really enchanted by someone, they can become obsessive.
Virgos are attracted to people who are authentic and honest, even if they come across harsh, so long as they are not too unrefined. Even Virgos who are unrefined themselves tend to like people who are not too vulgar. Sexually, they appreciate, revel in, and worship your filth, so long as it’s balanced with refined beauty; “a lady in the streets but a freak in the bed,” a phrase arguably popularized by Ludacris, a natal Virgo sun and Mercury (rx). Virgos like people who can strip them down and uncage the parts of them that they so often keep hidden behind modesty or wit. And they are biiiig on acts of service. They like to show their love by doing – they’ll clean up after dinner, change the oil in your car, help you put together a piece of furniture, and give lots of head.
Virgo Sex (and kink)
Having sex with a Virgo feels like the extended live version of “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks is a Virgo Mars (a fact that I correctly guessed upon hearing this rendition once upon a time) and there are probably no words that can quite describe it like the live version of this song can, specifically from around the 4:00 mark to the end. That’s what it feels like with them, that kind of rising swell of intensity.
Although some Virgos (but not all) are shy at first, they can use their exalted power of Mercury to articulate their desires in a way that is incredibly alluring and seductive. It’s generally thought that Gemini represents the side of Mercury that will talk talk talk, but when it comes to real good dirty talk, Virgo easily takes that title. Surprisingly, a lot of Virgos (especially Virgo Mars, Virgo sun, and Virgo rising) can almost knock the wind out of you with their boldness and directness when it comes to talking about sex and desire. There’s a decent chance that they’re going to talk about the nasty shit you do together with other people, too.
Ruled by Mercury, Virgos focus on the little things and actually remember them too. The detail-oriented nature of Virgo is a big part of what makes Virgos so fucking good in bed – they find all your little spots and focus on them intently, zeroing in on the exact millimeter and millisecond. They are physically captivated and captivating, zoned-in, and focused. Virgoan sex is not just physical or just mental, it’s both, and the best of them know how to seamlessly bridge the gap between the excitable human mind and innate, ripe devotion to the duplication of pleasure. And as a ‘double-bodied’ AKA mutable sign, Virgos can multitask.
Virgo is known as a sign of purity and purification, with it being a mutable sign (essentially the human embodiment of a very intentional exhale) and its symbol being the Virgin (meaning unwed, unfettered, untied… not necessarily unfucked), and there are essentially two types of (or even two sides to) Virgos: those who are a little shy and hesitant to get too dirty, and those who revel in filth. Some Virgos have actual purity complexes – as Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie (Virgo Venus, Mars, and Mercury) put it way back in 2001, “I've always fallen fast, with too much trust in the promising that no one's ever been here, so you can quell those wet fears. And I want purity, I must have it here right now.” In 2015 he addressed the same theme from a progressed angle in another song, saying, “I need not be flattered that you've never been here before, so there's no need to mention that you've no firsts anymore.” Some turn that complex into a fully functioning fetish, and religious kinks are at least part Virgoan. Some Virgos have significant sexual anxiety that can be rooted in religion (especially but not only Christianity/Catholicism) – this idea that sex is somehow dirty or bad, and that people who have sex are also dirty or bad. At its worst under patriarchy, some Virgos (especially men) are prone to making staunch judgments about a person based on socially constructed ideas of “sexual purity.” But again, on the other hand, some Virgo placements indulge in both purity and corruption through kink and BDSM.
And Virgos are kinky. From laying the mental and conversational groundwork to the details of sex acts, they are down to serve and want to give their partner exactly what they want. They are aware that the mind (and MOUTH) move the body. They are willing to try new things and play with with all kinds of kinks. I swear I’m not some Ludacris fanatic or anything (he just really blatantly represents Virgo!), but remember his song “What’s Your Fantasy”? Virgo as fuck. Or the infamous “heart in a blender song” by Eve 6 in which singer Max Collins literally yells, “Make me blind when your eyes close, sink when you get close, tie me to the bedpost”? Coincidentally, in 2020 Max Collins tweeted that he was “literally a virgin” (you know, like the sign’s symbol, the Virgin) when he wrote that song.
For the record (and note that these are generalizations that will not apply to absolutely every person), Virgo moons can be more reserved and less kinky than other Virgo placements, Virgo suns are the most outwardly dirty and perverse, Virgo Venus and Virgo ascendant can go either way, and Virgo Mars is insatiably kinky. Virgo Mars astrologer Alyssa Sharpe has said that Virgo Mars in specific loves to be tied up and feel “a little bit like a slave.”
Talk to your Virgo lover/love interest/whatever about what you’re each into and what you want to do. Composed and direct, make yourself clear. When they hear about your depraved desires, they’re likely to be more than willing to use their earthy, mutable magic to take those thoughts and words (Mercury) and transform (mutable) those desires into an actual reality (earth).
